This morning I realized that today is exactly one year since Anthony and I jumped on a plane to the windy city. We decided to take a vacation to Chicago to see if maybe this was the place for us. We had created a list of cities we would be willing to move to when Anthony got his Masters and Chicago was the one place we hadn't been. I was so excited but I honestly didn't know if I would love Chicago. I instantly fell in love with everything about the city. It was clean, laid back but still the metropolitan area I was looking to live in. Not to mention the theatre here is amazing. That vacation literally changed my life. Less than 8 months later the boy and I packed up our lives and moved them to the Midwest. Since moving here I have been a part of two shows and my third one starts at the end of July. I have acted in student films and I've been nannying for several families. This blog started because of my desire to move here, hence the name. I have been living here for 4 months now and I cannot wait to share more stories about my journey in Chicagoland.

It's a Beautiful Day

Dress- Target
Scarf- Vintage, Vintage Archives
Purse- Vintage, Vintage Archives
Watch Necklace- Vintage
Sandals- Wal Mart

I was cooped up in my apartment for part of today but when the boy and I finally got out we enjoyed a nice dinner outside and a walk on the beach where we looked for sea glass. I do have to say, I found the perfect sea glass partner :) I am hoping to take some of this sea glass (lake glass?) and make jewelry to sell for Katie Did Designs.

 Dress- Forever 21
Tank- Forever 21
Skirt- Thrifted
Belt- Forever 21

These pictures are from about a month ago. Anthony and I actually found some time together and wandered a few blocks to the beach. The weather lately has been so back and forth but this turned out to be a beautiful day and I decided to pair a floral dress (that is too short for me to comfortablly wear on my own) with a longer navy skirt. What I love most about this skirt is that it has a subtle flower pattern on it and I loved combining it with this goldenrod yellow belt. The combination of colors and floral patterns made me feel feminine. I have been nannying a lot which means that I don't have many opportunities to dress how I want, although I have considered posting some outfit photos about how to still look put together while watching children for a living. There are definitely limitations to outfits when it comes to chasing 1 year olds around a playground but I think sometimes I find just the right balance. Rompers are definitely helpful in this category.

Today is another lovely day (we've had a few of these in a row!). I am hoping to get some pictures of today's outfit which is a comfy blue dress from Target and a couple of vintage accessories I've acquired over the past week. I am a HUGE fan of thrifting lately and have had the wonderful experience of going to the Vintage Bazaar. Gotta love Chicago. And Sunday I plan on stopping by the Vintage Garage event. I love clothes with a story and I can't help but love looking through mounds of clothes and finding a gem.

On the theatre side of my life, the show I am stage managing goes in to Tech week on Monday! It is a devised theatre piece using the themes and character archetypes of Anton Chekov plays. The cast and director are all uber talented and it has been so nice to be openly welcomed into this tight knit group. Devised theatre is also near and dear to my heart (I miss my Mirror, Mirror ladies) and it is great to be a part of that kind of process again.

Ok, enough of my word vomit. Next time I will try and stick with one topic, or keep my stream of consciousness to a minimum.

Go out and enjoy the day!
